A piece of He111 that my Dad picked up in the Croydon area after a raid or my Grandfathers helmet that I used to wear running around the garden as a kid.
I still have both.

The first one I remember properly was a Soviet flag pole top when I was 9 or so.

Mines were a M1 fixed bail and a M2 para helmet. I studied and studied military stuff for about six months before I plucked up the courage to buy something, All the fake everything was putting off at the time. But I landed lucky and that was me hooked!

my first item was this mk11 tommy helmet i was about 7. my dad worked for the salvos at the time and would come across all sorts of military stuff. and a spanish 42 helmet but dont have that anymore. but i would run around playing army men with my mates in the paddocks. the only problem was that the tommy helmet would not fit my fat head, so my mates grandpar modified the liner for me. o well
For me it would be a cheap repro M1 helmet that I bought just so I could say that I had a piece of "history". But I still have it today.
When I was 5 or 6 my grandfather bought me a woodland camo cap from a local surplus store. I was hooked ever since...
WW2 Luftwaffe anti-aircraft badge. Went to a gun show and came across it. He wanted 25.00 for it so I said I would go and get some money from a teller machine, but he told me to just take it. I traded it last year along with a Luftwaffe ground assault badge for a Luftwaffe m43 cap.
