Very touching. The WWII era is filled with really great tales
of adventure, heroism, personal stories such as these
and more. I think that many of them would make
wonderful movies, but we'll probably get
    another Batman.........!
    Regards,

    Steve.

Yep some really cool storys. One i liked from my nanna was back in 1943 as he was heading to darwin when the japs attacked us. He wrote a letter proposing to my nanna. The writing apparently was terrible becuase of the bumpy road in the back on the army truck. My nanna got it and accepted his proposal and were married till his passing. Her mum got the letter not long after my nanna got it and burnt it. Her mum didnt like an army man taking her daughter away from her. My nanna wishes to this day that she still had that letter and so do i

I posted this in the earlier thread, but thought it should go here as well.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel disturbed that this Marine's Express Wishes were ignored and his sweetheart never given his diary as he had Specifically written out? Even when she Did finally see it purely by accident, the curator was "generous" enough to "allow" her to handle it in person, but then Only for a few minutes and only with white gloves on. Apparently, the family was on good enough terms with her to ask her to donate the Marine's Class Ring and other bits that she still had of his-which she generously Did, but decided to not even Mention to her about the diary or her extensive involvement in it-and ignoring the fact that he wanted her to Have it if he was killed? For Me, it kind of takes the luster off what Could have been a heart-warming story...
