    don't clean it.

    leave it alone.

    that dirt is history too.

the only time i would clean anything (and i NEVER have) is if an accident occurred under my care or the care of some recent owner and this was obvious when looking at the item. for example, if i spilled my chocolate milk on an armband... i'd clean it.

saying this, i guess i am saying that dirt and grime simply from aging is, in my view, "legitimate" and part of the item and its history.

If you will clean it, it will fade the colors, and destroy the look

Definitely leave it as is. If you arent satisified with it, try returning it for a refund.
