Electrolysis

Ok guys i know this method has been discussed previously for particular items, but i see some things which need to be discussed further.
Some things are controversial and i would like to create this thread so that everybody, who has experience with this method, to be able to contribute.
I attach below a plan for setting up the electrolysis project.

Some people recommend to connect the cathode (black wire) to the relic, you want to clean, directly.
Others say it's better to connect both wires anode (red) and cathode (black) to iron bars, and place the relics in the middle of the bucket not touching each other.

Another controversial issue is whether to use stainless steel or iron as an anode (red wire).

- is relic and + is iron bar,best way cleans very good.

The iron bars on the right (anode) have been damaged very much even i have the system on for 2 days only.

EDIT: i cleaned the brownish, dirty water which was full of rust and i realised that the iron bars used as anode are not damaged. What it seemed as damage, was actually pieces of rust removed from the relic and stuck on the iron bars. Also don't place other relics on the bottom of the bucket without cathode wires connected on them, because the removed rust from the relic will also get stuck on them.

Be careful if iron bars are made of rust-free steel then separate toxic gas called chlorine and it's very toxic!

No they are just made of solid iron.
So you agree that stainless steel should not be used for anode, right?

Yes,but if you use stainless steel then you get much quicker result you can use it only outdoor! I do my stuff in kitchen or balcony and regular iron bars.
