Hey, Phill ! Thought I'd drop by and see how the helmet is shaping up. Looks good
in primer - you'd never know it ever had a crack !
Guess you've been looking at a bunch of lids to see what kind of finish to go with.
Even without a lot of texture, whatever you do will still look good because
the surface is smooth and even now. I've seen some restored helmets
on-line, and I'm amazed at what can be done.
Keep going with more 'in progress'.........!
Regards,
Steve.
Hey Wolf, not a great deal of progress, I've touched it up with a bit of spot putty and just letting her harden up a bit B4 sanding again, as you can see i'm leaving the interior "as Is" so to speak so it gives it a bit of credence.
Cheers,Phill
If you like doing this sort of thing, you might want to go into business restoring helmets for reenactors or even museums! It looks like you quality work!
Phill, as the best mil. dealer imo Kapusta Norm says " I'm always open for reasonable offer from a good person"with some elbow grease, a bit pricey for me at the moment but i'll keep it in mind.
Looking forward to see more of your craft with that one
lol, not a problem
You could even open a little online business... "Woodsnake's Restorations."
I have the same problem Phil, someone gives me a shell to redo for them, and when im finished , i dont want to give it back because it looks good, damn it
HAha Dave, have you got some pics up of any you've done? I'd love to see some as i'm alot of other people would.
Phill
