Today I got the cross and I think the condition is okey.

Maybe I paid too much, but it was still the cheapest I found, which was not a repo.
Where should I shop one for a better price?

Some dirt and rust came off quite easily with a toothbrush. I figured I would buy oil to treat the rust with.

But what do you think of the old vinegar trick that I read about?

White vinegar will work well, but be aware that it will completely remove any coloration that is still present on the core and will leave it bare metal in appearance.

Hm... maybe there is some color left under the rust. Ill guess make it bare metal and then paint it is a bad idea?

    VERY BAD!!!!

There will be no colour left under the rust!

Please do not alter or 'try to make better' this cross, it will never be the same and trust me, you'll ruin it even with the best intentions. It will never be restored to it's original state, you can only prevent it getting worse.

If you want one in better condition, buy one, not that expensive but whatever you do, don't try and improve this one.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
