Here's a restored M40 I recently picked up from a friend who digs in Western Ukraine. It was found in a trench on the modern day border between Sumy and Kharkov Oblasts, which would place this helmet in either the LII Armeekorps or the XLVIII Panzerkorps. I believe it was part of the Battle of Kursk because of it's location and the fact that if it was a pre Kursk helmet, it most likely would have been picked up by the Germans as they moved through on their way to Stalingrad.

Hi, well even though I would have left it as it was, I must admit you have done a good job with the re-paint. Leon.

Nothing wrong with doing a restoration. There are still plenty of original helmets out there. Looks really good, nice job.

Very nice to see you didn't make it an SS like every other restorer seems to do.

I'm not against restoring but I don't see the point in making something into that which it wasn't!
