Personally, I would have let it alone, but its your lid and you can spray it pink and slap a Hello Kitty decal on or use it as a chamber pot, it thats your desire.

Looks good Phill, try this, someone told me that if you wipe a bit of undiluted bleach on bare metal it starts to blacken it if left outside, i have'nt tried it yet as im not doing any helmets at the moment, but its supposed to look like old exposed rust and not fresh looking red
