M40 matte finish?

Hey everyone!

I'm pretty new to this forum but I've been reading a lot of the threads here and saw a lot of people giving their helmets are really matte/flat finish, the paint is not shiny or glossy at all. And I always wondered how to achieve that look because even the matte spray paint that I used is kinda glossy. I have an M40 shell lying around that I would like to paint in a flat slate-gray.

Is there anyone who can help me with this?

You can always go over it with fine (1200 or 1500 grit ) wet and dry paper .....used dry, that will flatten any gloss.
