Hi everybody, I have a couple of dug up austro-hungarian water canteens that need some cleaning. As you see in the pics, there are some parts of them covered with a layer of rust, obviously those parts misses the enamel.
The rust is quite solid and is a mixture of sand and rust actually.
I have tried, with no effect, electrolysis.
    What do you recommend?

You might try this product if you can find it.
It works well on cutting rust and will not affect the enamel as far as I know.
It will eat paint if left on overnight so do not use it on any painted surface.

I reckon that is some kind of rust remover, is it?
I have a similar liquid and I will try to leave the canteens over night in it, to see what happens.
    Thanx for the reply Steve.
