Hi Chris, do not attempt to revive old dry leather, basically once leather has got to this state there is nothing you can do. Steve is correct. Leading museums do not do anything bar perhaps apply renwax.

I bought an old rifle the other year,the leather sling was rock hard and cracking,i smothered it in dubbing and put in a plastic bag and allowed it to sweat for a couple of weeks,The leather became nice and flexible again..
