Rebuilt my Grandfathers 101st Airborne uniform.
Hello,
I have been collecting quite a bit of stuff over the past couple of years, and in all that time, the Holy Grail of my collection would be anything that belonged to my Grandfather. I have been very lucky to be handed down several items that belonged to him, but most were lost over the years. I always thought having his dress uniform would be great, but that was long gone. I was at a re-enactment a few weeks ago, and found a stripped four pocket, for around 15 bucks. It was the perfect base to do a uniform in the likes of his.
I realize that there are some inaccuracies, and some other items that the 502nd were entitled to but I have never seen in any pics of my Grandfather... In other words I ad-libbed a little bit. I tried to get it pretty close to what his would have looked like if he put everything he was awarded, bagged it up when he got back from Japan in 1948, and I had just opened it up again. I am still looking for a modern Belgian fourragere with the over the arm braids (I think it looks a lot better!).
I hope you enjoy, and I welcome your comments.

That looks great Nathan, your Granddad would love it! I did a similar thing for my Granddads battledress for circa 1945. Leon.
