Restoring a german "crusher cap"

Article about: Hello everyone, i bought what looks like a Schirmmütze Alter Art, in a state that can only be described as "garbage". Since i am sewing repro crusher caps as a hobby for some time

    Helen, I too am amazed at what you have accomplished. Quite honestly, it seems almost beyond belief. In your case, yes, maybe you can quit your day job . Well done!

    i have the eagle, but one of its wings is broken off, you can see that in the "before"-picture of the cap. We are currently trying to glue it somehow. My husband tried welding, but it just won't work....

    Helen,

    With some searching, you should be able to find an original eagle to replace the broken one. Maybe someone here might know where and can give you a lead.
