Default Checking photos that have been copied from the web

Awhile back there was a thread advising how to take images that have been posted to the forum and/or emailed to a member and somehow checking them to learn whether they have been posted to the web at any other time. This is a good way to hopefully learn if you are being scammed and the item posted has in fact simply been copied from a dealer's website for example.

Does anyone have a link to this thread? i think it would make a good sticky thread so we can all be better armed in the fight against scammers.

Open GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH in your browser and press the camera icon in the image search box, this will allow you to either upload an image from your computer or paste an image url in order for you to search for matching reults online --- all you need to do then is to click the search button... and; voilĂ

It's not foolproof of course, it simply searches for images with similar visual characteristics such as color and shape, not only images that are identical It's only a helpful tool and, of course, it's got its flaws --- relying on ones own knowledge and judgement should be what's weighted in any decision re. online deals/purchases.

This feature is already a few years old I believe, pretty straight forward but definitely useful nonetheless!
