i am also missing the "Top 8" so as a alternative, i'm using the "new posts" tab. sure... i don't like it as much, but i have not experienced any other problems during the transition so, i feel it's going remarkably well as compared to what can often be the case with these sorts of things.

he should enjoy his holiday, his family... i'll be using "new posts" for the time being. the "top 8" will be sorted out, i am sure.
