A shot in the dark, but does it have anything to do with the scroll wheel on the mouse?

Adrian, if you still have that jumping cursor problem you can try doing the steps at the end of this message. It appears problem could stem from a Windows automatic update patch. This has been said to work for quite a few people with same issue. Hope it helps and works, Jeff Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options -> and uncheck "hide pointer while typing"
