Why doesn't discussions show up in new posts?

Why is it that when a thread is started in the Discussions section it does not show in the new posts listing,hence why there's no replies probably because no one has seen it in the first instance.....................

Jake, I had noticed for a while that they show up straight away in new forum threads, if it is a new thread, but take a while to show in new forum posts, just a glitch since one of the recent(ish) upgrades I assume. For instance this thread now shows in the new threads, but perhaps not in the new posts?

Also just to add on another forum new threads do not show up as new posts as it costs money to show it, though such techno stuff is largely beyond me.
