Notice only the middle one is cocked. :-), i'd rather have a PPSH-41. more reliable then a tommy, but an interesting photo. i knew lend-lease included aircraft, tanks, an entire british squadron and "soft" vehicles. but small arms are new to me

Hi Mo, the majority of them went into storage and were stockpiled as Emergency stocks after the war. Many ended up in the Ukraine in a former salt mine and thousands of these have been imported into the UK by Ryton Arms and deactivated. They are mint. I have showed my friends example on the forum in the past somewhere. They are mainly earlier production versions too. See here:

Most of the small arms that went over, went as part of the "kits" that went prepacked with the tanks, or aircraft. When the U.S. military packages any vehicle for transport, it comes with a kit of common use items, such as pioneer tools, OVM (Operator Vehicle Maintenance) tools, common repair parts, and the common issue parts for that vehicle. IE, radios, weapons common to that vehicle, and any specialized gear for that vehicle, or crew.

I can't find it right now, but I have seen a picture of Red Army tankers, on a U.S. Stuart tank, wearing U.S. tanker helmets, and pointing Thompsons skyward, and IIRC the one guy is even wearing a U.S. web belt, with a 1911A1 pistol, in holster hanging on it. All of that gear was included in the T,O,&E (Table of Organization, and Equipment) for each tank.
