    This does look dutch to me definitely not ww2 british any markings

    if it's marked VB with a year number it's Dutch

    I told the seller it was most likely Dutch and not worth all that much. He opted to just keep it. I'm not disappointed. Thanks for the help.

    Hello Helmetone,

    This is most likely a refurbished British lid. The colour and liner are post war Dutch civil defense. Not a Dutch manufactured shell.

    I have a Dutch refurb lid, British made lid but with a different liner. Color is about the same, too. I could faintly read the markings on the rim, it was a British lid, 1942. He decided to just throw it back on the gun rack.
