    On seconds thoughts, I DO know what this insignia is.

    Not British but Irish. It is Eastern Command of the Irish Army.

    its not british or ww1 its Irish not sure about what the green marking is under the insigna as the picture is so small helmet would be from the 1940-60s

    Thanks Gar for taking the time and sharing your knowledge,your info sent me on a very fulfilling search into the history of the Irish military,I actually have a second one too that I thought was British,it's identical to this one but with a brown line under it,I'll keep you in mind if I ever decide to part with them or if I come across any medals...Thanks again,Tom
