    Having dug out my example, I must apologise and confirm that my helmet does not, in fact, bear rank insignia. I must've got confused with all the others I've seen on eBay - well, that's my excuse. Also, I found this on here: Peruvian M1 ?
    to which I contributed photos!

    I've compared the paint on my M1 with that on a Peruvian M34 (French M26 originally). Here are the results:Chilean M1 helmetChilean M1 helmet The first is with flash the second without.

    The colour and texture are so close that, unless proven otherwise, say by photographic evidence, I'm going to keep my M1 labelled 'Peruvian'!
