Hungarian M-70 & Czech Vz-53 helmets

Article about: Two of my Eastern European collection. Both are in great condition, the M-70 has been lightly used, the Vz-53 looks as if it has never been used, just some shelf wear with a few scuffs.

I have a Czech Vz-53/80 and it's the worst helmet in my collection because if you flick it it rings like a church bell

I noticed that too, the metal on the Czech Vz-53/80 has a hollow bell sound if you hit the side

My East German M56 / 71 Stahlhelm also sounds like a bell if you knock on it? but the ones I have are Large sized shells

the Hungarian M70 sounds very solid if you hit it and doesnt make the church bell sound, maybe because of the thicker steel and heavy coat of paint?
