Hi James,
I have seen the black/red triangle insignia before, but never could figure out what it stood for. Yes, next to the triangle is the number 3 in arabic. Your M80 appears to be the Iraqi made version? Thanks for sharing!

Samir
hi samir i have since learned the my insignia could be iraqi Reconnaissance brigade formed before the first gulf war thanks for your comments james
That's awesome! Too bad theres no book on RG militaria out there.
This British Mk 2 Tanker/Para etc lid was liberated during the first Gulf War in 91 by a RAN sailor.
It's now part of my collection.
Comes complete with an Islamic prayer (I think) and name. The red and yellow relic Insignia may be RAC but not 100% sure on that.
I fully understand how and why it ended up in Iraq and it could possibly be a vet. of many conflicts in the region over the years,Iran/Iraq conflict,Kuwait,First Gulf War.
It's an interesting lid.
Cheers all
Dave
Dave, if i'm not mistaken, the white circle with the red moon may be an islamic medic insignia.
Any better shots of the arabic writing? I maybe able to make out what it says.
Samir
It's the Red crescent, there version of the red cross symbol
