    Another recent purchase.
    Also comes from my friends collection.
    Its complete with liner and chinstrap but no photos of the interior.
    By information gathered its a civil defense lid, but i have not seen more helmets like this.
    I will pick it up in the next few days.

    Indeed a M26 CIvil Defense. DP stands for "Defense Passive".

    I believe during the war the German occupier ordered steel helmets for DP use to be painted white. I think to prevent them to be used as combat helmets. This would not be a good idea in winter I spuppose!
