SWISS HELMET ,just arived

a swiss helmet for you all to see
ive no idea what model it is ,,it was £20 of ebay
there are no marks or stamps on it that i can find ,and its in great condition
itl look great when i finaly move and build a new bar ,to display my stuff in

Not my area Ian but being black with sawdust added usually means its an m18/40 or m18/43 i think one has a 3/4 quarter liner band,but not sure which one.Greg or James will no doubt correct me............nice lids i think...............Jake.

Bloody ugly helmets but a great bargain at 20 quid!...

I would say this is classed as an M18/43, The M18 being the shell type and liner band in a full circle, I think the M43 is the additon of the wire bail loop and the quick release clip chin strap in this case, but that could also earlier.

I'm happy to be corrected and grow my extremely useful knowledge on the subtle nuances of Swiss helmets, I think you got a great deal for £20.

I always liked the Swiss Model 18/40 or 18/43

it's a high quality steel helmet , the design looks very similiar to the early WWI experimental helmets like the US M5 model 2 helmet , experimental

I think the Swiss got the idea from this early experimental model
