is it written whit a marker or is it paint
and can you pleas post a close up

my dad was whit the supply division back in the 76
got his pocket knife and thats when it all started

It is definitely marked with a tush or marker of some sord.

To my mind this helmet is not Dutch. It is a US helmet, possibly of the latest Canadian production run. The M1 was worn till the early 90's. he chinstrap is typical late seventies US, althought the Danes used these as well at he end of the 80's.

99% of the Dutch helmet shell's are marked in the front or rear rim with producer initials and year of manufacture. The manufacturers are VB, L&S, VDN, U's. A few left overs from WW2 (McCord) are also encountered, but these are rare as hen's teeth.

The liners are close copies of the WW2 US fiber ones and later production was made of thermoplastic.

The Dutch sweat bands are placed differently (except the 1954-1956 production). The neckband on Dutch M1 clones are not removable. The steel shell color also is different. It varies from almost brownish to olive drab. Only the very last run was bronze green.

Yes I thought I'd give my pennies worth. I just realized it might just as well be a Canadian used helmet. It is not Danish as they had different liners.

US or Canadian?!?

its always good to hear your thoughts when it comes to these helmets they can be very hard to determine of what country they may have been used by so could of easily have been used by either US or Canada probably never know ???
