Hey guys. I got this on ebay just expecting a normal russian shovel, but got this instead. It is dated 189(?) (hole is punched through last digit), and has an anchor stamped into the spade. It also has a partial stamp that has been damaged by corrosion. It reads: "д. мосягин" and then is cut off.

Some greyish paint appears to be visible. It is in MUCH better condition than the photos seem to make it, but that's no worry. Has anybody seen or read about anything like this? It's a very interesting piece I think.1890's Russian Navy(?) Entrenching Tool1890's Russian Navy(?) Entrenching Tool1890's Russian Navy(?) Entrenching Tool

I have these two dug picks. One has a 1915 date on one side and a crest simular to the one on the tunic button.

The spade has a hole punched in it most likely from its service with the Finnish army , Alot of ww1 Russian entrenching tools came to the market about 6 years ago all with the hole punched in them so they could be hung from the Finnish carrying strap

You are correct, although the question about the anchor stamp and factory stamp still lingers.
