Need Help With Uniform IdentificationNeed Help With Uniform IdentificationNeed Help With Uniform IdentificationThis is a picture of a brother of uncle's father-in-law. Family story is that he was in White Army and died in the very last days of revolution. The family did live in the Sanct Petersburg, and he could have gone to the Academy. This is a copy of a copy, so I can't get it any clearer to look at. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Still thinking of at least one key...
Don't know for Russia, but key's on insignas were used by prison wardens in some other country's.
Could also be a hotel uniform; they also use key's on buttons and collar patches.
Also thinking of a uniform used on cruise ship's...
Sorry i can't be of better help.

I did all the magnifying as well, but can't make up what it represents!
The badge /medal on his breast would have give more info, but he sadly turns it away!

Take a look at 1910s Imperial Russia Student of Riga Polytechnic Institute in Uniform Nice CDV | eBay just to show the variety of different civil uniforms there was.

Could be keys, but what do you think about a shovel and pick?

Shovel and pick is a possibility. There where numerous items used for recognition on badges and buttons...
