Default Chetnik Skull in Hand Artefact

    Hello All,
here is a new item to my foreign volunteers section of my collection.
It is made from a hard wood of some type, perhaps Mahogany and has a nice aged patina.
Being told it came from some Chetnik unit of whatever era because of the nature of these things it will never be able to be proved but is in my opinion a nice curio to add to my collection.

It is carved with the Chetnik slogan "For king and fatherland freedom or death" (I think)

    Any opinions or comments welcomed.

    Thanks William
I do like it. It is unusual whatever the real provenance is it has the feel of old rubbed wood

Reminds me of the top of a walking stick.
    Interesting piece.

Thank you all for your comments.
It is a little too large to go on a walking stick.
The seller thought it came off the top of a flagpole.
The skull measures 5 1/2 inches (14cm) long and the wooden spike is 3 inches long.

    Hello Al,
    thanks for your comments.
It is an aged piece and I have been scouring the web and multiple forums to try and spot anything similar.
Unfortunately I have drawn a blank so far.
Photographic evidence is very scant, the war in Yugoslavia seems to have been conducted behind closed doors.
Lots of stuff with Tito's fighters and the Utasha/Croat forces but very little about the Chetniks.

The original owner had taken the piece to a local Serbian museum but they couldn't throw any light on to it except they thought it was to do with the German occupation!

I'll keep looking but I hoped one or some of the members might have known something

    All the best

    Hi Doug,
Thank you for sharing pictures of such a unusual item, if it's original like it seems to be it's prior to King Peter II ,who is "associated" with later Chetnik movement.
Do you still have the skull and have you been able to find anything else about it?
