The stork with the worm is a symbol of the Haag Football Club, or the "ADO Den Haag". It is a spirited rivalry that is hotly contested since 1905...

The bird and worm stand symbol of the city 's-Gravenhage, better know as Den Haag.
If it would have any thing to do with football, I would expect the stork holding his right leg on a football (that is in fact the symbol of the Haag Football Club).
Seing the national flag's on the broche I would vote for the "Haagse bond van amateurtuindersverenigingen"; in English; amateur gardeners associations. Knowing that gardening was a commoun hobby in all lands showing on the broche...
    Just my 2 cent...

Not sure it is, but that association was founded in 1938....
Prinses Beatrix was also born that year and broches were made to commorate that event, but I don't think the swas was appropriated on that event.....
I wunder what it realy was made for... (lol!!)

Many thanks for you help? gentlemen, hmmm amateur gardening, football was my first guess.
Despite quite a bit of research today, I still haven't been able to pin it down to any particular event.
I will do a bit more before I finally commit to the purchase (or not)
    Again many thanks,
    Regards,
    Pete

Is the seller asking alot for it? Certainly, it can't be worth a great deal?

Depends what you consider a lot. In this case, too me, it is, but some of these multi-national enamels do fetch fair prices. Its $180+. In my mind this compares fairly favorably with what common party badges now fetch.

Well, for what is looking like a Dutch International sports tournament souvenir, the collectability of it must be a fairly narrow market, I would think. Probably not something that I'd invest a couple of hundred dollars into, but that's just me, of course.

Ah, remember though, that its other classification is as a "tinnie" and there are many avid collectors of those (me included)

Also, I'm a collector, not an investor.
