Dear Gentlemen I would appreciate some help with this inscription. From 1809 and during most of the First World War Finland was a part of Russia. Many fortifications were built during that period with the use of Chinese workers. We recently discovered this inscription in a large rock in the S. of Finland. Could it be "Kanji".

    All help welcome!

It is Japanese more than Chinese, 夫婦 meaning husband and wife, written in a somewhat clumsy way, but clearly legible.
