My grandfather was given this bayonet as a gift from a befriended vet who had served in Germany. I don’t know anything about that man but the bayonet that was given to my grandfather is from the Japanese embassy. I would like to know how much it’s worth and if there was a specific unit who raided the embassy. I can’t get it out of the scabbard sadly but, here’s the photos

This is a type 30 Japanese bayonet.

Rusty and relic like condition. Odd circle stamp on the cross guard. Also looks like someone pried open the hooked quillion.

It is made by the Nagoya Arsenal

We don't provide values, just authentications on the forum, but in this condition it is not worth much. Under $50. Probably 1/2 that.

Thanks we’re you taking into account that it’s from the Japanese embassy?

It won't make any difference to the value, like a dime is a dime wherever you pick it up.

That’s kind of a dispontment. But thanks anyways!

A story means nothing, unless you can prove it.
... plus, it would have to be a lot more spectacular than coming from an embassy to boost the value!

    Best regards,

post this in the Japanese section. I think if it had a story it would be so much better. who what when and why. why is it in Germany who did it belong to? why is it in such bad shape?
