    Default Aviation Museum Open Day

Recently it was the open day at a local aviation museum where I volunteer. The museum is always open, but this weekend some of us dressed up in uniforms, moved the aircraft out of the hangars, and gave tours. Here's a few pictures my dad snapped. I'm the idiot dressed as a pilot officer. Yes, the uniform is patched together from various uniforms, but the tunic and shorts are both genuine WWII.

Before anyone says it; a number of veterans pointed out I'd be scrubbing toilets for a week for wearing dirty boots like that.

See if you can name all the aircraft pictured.

Now excuse me while I duck for cover as the hardcore reenactors rip on the uniforms we're wearing.

    I'll have a go!

In no particular order:- Spitfire XI with a Fiat G91 in the hangar behind.

Douglas Dakota DC-3 with a Bell huey wokka in the background.

    Hawker Hurricane II.

Autogiro with a Beech 18 behind it and a DC3 behind that and a Hawker Sea Venom on the left rear.

    A nice Link trainer.

A Triumph 500cc single (5H?) and sidecar and a Bofors AA gun.

    How'd I do?

    Regards, Ned.

    Cheers lads.

Something you don't see everyday, especially outside of Malta is the Maltese rubble wall camouflage on the Norton bike, as well as the rubble wall camo helmet on it. The bike is owned by an old Maltese gentleman, and is not a regular display, he still drives it around!

You did pretty well actually, except the bike is a Norton Two wheel drive, interestingly enough.

Love the Dak Bluetwo, she looks great! I'd love a snap of the interior.

The two here are in worse shape, as you can see, but the engines still run (I think!) on one of them.
The Dak which is in one piece was built in 38 as a C-47 (has the approval plate in the cockpit), and post war flew supplies for the Dakar rally. Could use a spit shine though.
