@ Burt, you are correct ; these are old empty torpedoes by Tavronitis bridge, painted the old vietnam camo as were the old strike jets of Hellenic A.F. (A-7 Corsairs and F-104s)

Right guys just to update, had a Tourist day today and went to the south of the island, even there on the beach a German/Italian placement. This place is Paleochora

I have just got back from Hill 107. I went with my friend Sean who spoke with Manolis the owner who kindly agreed to let us photograph the inside. There are some fantastic items inside which Manolis has personally collected over the years. So if you do go there pop by and have a beer or a Frappe and have a chat with him, he speaks very good English and his knowledge of that area and beyond is again just fantastic

Ben, I've been to the military base in Souda Bay twice back in the early 80's. Both times I was not used to wearing a hat since we never did at sea and I had just flown off my ship. So when I entered the bar wearing my hat I had to buy a round for the house. You would think I would have learned the first time as both were a bit spendy.
