A very patriotic event and this will be the biggest year of celebration. However I am still uneasy on the event because although it symbolizes great Australian patriotism it also displays another poorly lead Anglo-Australian campaign which cost my family a Husband in 1915. My Grandfather (WWII Medical )before his passing always called Anzac day the saddest day of the year.
A very sad end to these Anzacs. RIP. Not very different of our Somme slaughter.

don't forget there were British and French soldiers there too who paid a heavy price.plus the Royal Navy
Very true Harry on this day we should also remember the British and French soldiers as well as the Anzacs , Britain and France suffered the heaviest casulaties at Gallipoli.by harryamb2

And one or two Turkish lads as well...
At the dawn service here in Qatar this morning the Turkish Ambassador spoke and mentioned that in Istanbul for the next two years after Gallipoli there was no intake to Universities as there were not enough students to make up classes. The generation was gone...
I haven't forgotten as you can see if you read the thread title Harry, "..Their Part In The Campaign", with the emphasis on "Their Part In". What do you want me to do, ask the Herald to re write the article???
