Default Holiday in Crete and respect to fallen family member.

Hi chaps, I am off to Crete again this year and I aim to finish something that I did not achieve last year (my fault as I got the wrong name!!) Anyway, I am going to visit the grave of my 5th cousin who is private 33931 Donald Henry Giles. Born 1915 in New Zealand served with the 19th Battalion New Zealand Infantry. He was killed 24th May 1941 in the Battle of Crete. A relative from my fathers side which went over to New Zealand by invitation from North Wingfield in the 1800's. I found all this out whilst researching my ancestry. So whilst we are there he will be getting some fresh flowers and a salute

    Cheers

Let me wish a nice trip and a comfortable stay in Crete from here too buddy! It is sad that i will not meet you but i'm sure you will find many things to do there! Enjoy each day and watch out for two things... Raki and sunburns! Visit the museum at Askifou and take many pictures from your visit there! You will love the place...
Also, if possible mark the place of your relative's grave in order to be able to take care of his resting place when i visit the Allied cemetery again. It would not be a problem for me to visit the place and lay some flowers there for you next time.
