I hear Australia is a great place to live, but it sure is a bit isolated.

The same authors have another volume on military archaeology in Vienna due out next month.
I have spent much time in the shadow of these things and they are a central part of life in Vienna, much more so than in Berlin, where the two remnant ones are far less present in my experience. I have not seen those in Hamburg, at all, though I am often there.

Berlin is next on my list of visits. The suburbs right out to Seelow and Halbe also. The Flak tower pics are amazing. I've read of the 12.8cm Flak guns being fully depressed and engaging Soviet tanks at incredible ranges.
