I would like to try and visit this year, I would especially like to see the Radio they had hidden in the attic, It was only discovered in the mid to late 90's I believe. It was manned mostly by a Michael " Mickey " Burn, ex-Commando who was captured at St.Nazaire during the Raid and later imprisoned at Colditz. He was a journalist with The Times pre war and knew short hand, he was able to listen to the BBC World Service, take notes and then later relay the information on how the War was going to the other inmates.
A very interesting man with a colourful past and personal life to say the least ! Its difficult not to like the man

Radio Shack is now in the museum. I believe that it was originally constructed by the French then handed over to British. The guided tour is well worthwhile. I reread the Reid books and the German Eggars one before gping and it all came to life during the visit. Some of the place is renovated (Chapel) and some - like the theatre/Neave escape route pretty much as it was. Ryanair fly into Leipzig now so I got a return flight for £40, car for £100 for 3 days, and hotel for another £100. I went to Buchenwald on the 2nd day. Mittelbau-Dora is close enough to Leipzig to do in a day too
