I enlisted in the service on June 6th, 1991. (Never thought about it at the time as I was young) Now I think it's neat that I share a special date with such an awesome (awesome meaning the magnitude/scale of the operation- don't want anyone taking that the wrong way) event in history.

Perhaps a problem with the TV : Only two French Channels have the rights for this day, annd they ask 200.000 € to share the rights....

I enlisted into the US Army on June 6th, 1984...My American grandfather (101st Airborne) was shot through the hand and into the stomach parachuting into France on D-Day...he survived with a crippled hand...and became a chronic, abusive alcoholic...killing himself and his cousin while drunken driving in 1956...
Our next door neighbor in Germany was a 19 year-old Wehrmacht conscript in Normandy on D-Day...had a finger shot off and was captured, then sent to Texas to a POW camp...He told me that he was awestruck by the amount of Material the Allies possessed...
What I like about this hobby is that everyone who lived during that time has an interesting and valuable story to tell...
    cheers, Glenn
