Thanks again to all for the positive comments.

Just a little update for tonight. Rather tired after being at a show all day.

On the Friday night Bee & Tim had 5 German lads come over for the weekend. Several of them collect. Lez cooked us all an Italian meal and afterwards we played the old 1970's board game "Colditz" was was a lot of fun. On the Saturday we worked on the farm, as you saw in the previous pics. Saturday night we have a big BBQ care of the German lads, complete with Thuringen sausages! After a few beers and a whole bottle of Apple Korn and it was daylight when I got to bed!

Sunday morning was a late start of 11am after our late night! Lez cooked us all a traditional English breakfast and afterwards we went GeoCaching, if you have not heard of this, see here:

    http://www.geocaching.com/

This is a lot of fun. It gets you out and about and often to odd and interesting places. We ended up in a disused railway drainage culvert in a village called Amerika. Lez chickened out We also visited the Castle at Rochlitz.

    Cheers, Ade.

Sunday night we chilled out with a take away meal and watched "Iron Sky".

Monday was another highlight of the trip: Dresden and the Bundeswehr Museum.

The Soviet War Memorial has been moved to a location near the museum from it's original location in the city centre. One suspects it was not appreciated now by the locals..A usual impressive design with the typical heroic artwork of the Stalinist times.

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi James, thanks for the kind comments.

The Germans sealed any tunnel entrances they found with concrete. I think these were thrown in the tunnel as rubbish, then it was sealed and the cans etc were entombed.

I don't think I showed this pic? It is one of the a tunnel entrance which the Germans sealed and signed.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Thanks Steve.

We now move into the Bundeswehr Museum.

Unrestored WW1 Truck, a modern take on displaying a WW1 German Cavalryman and horse, and an original pair of WW1 Jackboots as they were first issued in unpolished condition. Note the Imperial Generals tunic which has been modified with added brest pockets and French cuffs.

Around the museum were various black cupboards which you could open up and experience the contents, either by touch or smell in some cases.

Here we have a nice replica WW1 Tornister pack, which you could undo, and discover what the pack would have originally contained. The weight was what the original would have been.

An Imperial standard, this was displayed set in a glass cabinet in the floor.
