    There was a good display on Animals at War.

    Just a few pics here. Including a Soviet Mine dog in detail and some "awards" to show Horses who served in the Great War.

    Back home after London so a quick update over breakfast.

    German Auto Union staff car liberated in Paris in 1944 and then used post war by General De Gaulle.

    We now move into the post 1945 era.

    Here are some items converted for civilian use. I rather like the painted & decorated glass mine.

    The POW items: US issue V neck pullover and a Soviet Telogreika padded jacket. Mess items made in Soviet camps.

    I read somewhere that the mine dogs idea backfired on the Russians, when they first tried to use the dogs in battle they ran towards the Russian tanks and destroyed a few, the Russians trained the dogs on T34s and KV1s etc all having diesel engines, all the German armour used petrol engines and the dogs had gotten imprinted on the sound and smell of Russian vehicles. Or is this just a myth?
