Very nice some great pictures.My wife grandfather was there.
Great pix, very bleak but beuatiful terrain which must have been frozen in deep snow during the battle, hence the use of tents rather than digging bunkers.

That midget sub is fantastic, there must be a museum that want to get there hands in that..
I'm with you Thomas, how could they just let that midget sub sit out there and rot away. I can't believe someone wouldn't want it. What a miserable place to fight.

Looks like it was pretty much intact when they left - the tent pegs still poking out,
and the wood and canvas shelters collapsed into themselves.
What was not left to rot has been scavenged or carried away by the wind........

Very dangerous... lots of like ordinance still lying about just where it was left. Very remote so little has been done to clean it up.
I would like to go there.
My dad has been talking about going there for years.
