Hi guys,

I thought i would bring this to your attention as i think it warrants as wider audience as possible.

'We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to pass a new
law making it illegal to impersonate, misrepresent, or falsify
connections (past or present) with HM Forces including the
wearing of uniforms complete or in part and the adorning of
medals awarded either for campaign service, long service and
services of distinction for which they are not entitled.
Further to this and in particular, we would request that the
government consider making it a criminal offence for those who
aspire to make personal or corporate financial gain from such
acts of fraudulent deceit.'

It is something over looked and needs to be addressed.

its a good cause and ill be signing but i thought it was already illegal to inpersonate military personal

I think some of this is indeed already covered by Law, but the cause is good.

Josh laws are already on the statute from the 1950's regarding impersonating members of the armed services , wearing uniforms etc etc.

Guys, the cause is good, but the devil is in the details. Be careful what you wish for!

This is the type of movement that made the buying and selling of the Medal of Honor illegal here in the US with the result of many of them being sold overseas. Unless of course it is already illegal for a private individual to buy and sell a VC, in which case it may not matter.

The Stolen Valor Act is the US version of this. Once again the cause is good but the knee jerk reaction caused eBay to remove the sales of many medals such as Purple Hearts and Silver Stars that were not even banned by the Federal government.

Good luck with this! Of course you are betting that your lawmakers are reasonable, sensible and would limit themselves to what you have laid out in your petition.

some little shits over here went round doors pretending to be members of the Army Cadet Force collecting money for something or other, they got caught when they were stupid enough to go to a soldiers door who realised that the kit one of them was wearing was a Dutch DPM jacket.
