Yes mate paul will be out there as well !
The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    1st July 1916

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

Unfortunately as with all the anniversaries where the "great and the good" turn up it will be a jamboree on the 1st July , hopefully there will be more room to move around the Battlefield without all the no go zones on the other days !

Do you ever meet up with the American author, Michael LoCicero on your travels to the battlefields? He is a good friend of mine.

Yes I know what you mean Paul, I remember what the D-Day 70th was like 2 years ago !! I think the security zone restrictions are lifted by midday on July 2nd so hopefully will not be so bad by then.

Here is a map of the security zones, they cannot be entered without a pass after 8:00pm on the 30th June until midday July 2nd, I am pretty certain that is correct, but it may have changed, I will have to confirm.

    Cheers
