Ah yes, I was thinking F1, but I do know that 1 RAR deployed with a number of Owen guns

The F1 and Owen had a long history in the Army....my first unit, 1 Signal Regiment in 1991 still issued F1's to us drivers as we converted over to F88 AUSTEYR....we also still had 3 vickers guns in the armoury!

just to add to the talk about the sub machine guns used by australian troops in vietnam. i met a veitnam vet today, and went back to his place to have a chat he showed me a photo of him he had a owen gun. but he said he threw that away and got him self a m2 carbine. he said the boss was ok with him useing it. he was also wearing U.S army greens. and one of the boys in the unit was using a ak47, but he told me they told him to stop useing the gun. just in case.
