This is incorrect and poor historical reporting. What is your source?
There was NO British journalist named Elroy Healey in Shanghai.
You are probably confusing him with an American, Ernest Leroy Healey, the American radio manager of XMHA. He is a subject of my upcoming book about Americans in Shanghai, 1930 - 1945.
He was arrested and tortured, but survived the war. He even traveled to Japan on business after the war.

Sorry mate. My mistake.
If only your upcoming book was available when I poorly wrote this, I'm sure there would've been less confusion on my part and much celebration amongst our avid readers here on war relics.
But facts are facts, I will have to punish my source on this misinformation.
Thank you for your correction.
