    First of all: Dim, thanks for showing all that great stuff and the attached info. It would be interesting for me to read more - even if it is in Russian language.

    I believe that I own one of those budionovka that you have shown, but a late 1920X variant, and always thought it was something else. So, now I have another small research project.

    Taavi, my question for you is: Is your shinel a dark blue colour? Or, is it black?

    I have the same in black. Blue is from a 60's.

    So, I have this - which I always thought was Air Force Border Guards. Now I know such a rare thing could not be at me...

    ВОХР, of course! Never even thought of it.

    The colour of the star on a blue budionovka makes sense - as it is a bit different than the normal Border Guard green...

    Dim, from where do you get your information? Is there any written/photographic reference material - online or in print - about this facet of service available?
