Please give me an assessment and value for this dagger.

Do you think that it reasonable to ask $250 USD for it>

That looks good to me as well.

Markings - Schutzpolizei Oppeln - a town in Upper Silesia - now in Poland.

I would say $250 is perhaps on the low side for one of these in good condition which this one appears to be.

Will be interesting to see what others have to say.

    Regards

A shame that it's missing it's grip insignia. I've always liked the looks of these Police Bayonets. Without the insignia? The value drops drastically...

    Not a bad looking bayonet.

Without the grip insignia, I agree with Richie. It is very hard to sell one without that being there. it is not easy to get a replacement on there or find a real one to put on. I think, in my opinion only, having had a few of these that this one is worth around $175.00 to $200.00 due mainly to the missing insignia. Without that insignia, it defeats the purpose of having a Police bayonet. If it was there and original the value would move up in the $450.00+ range. Police bayonets are tricky and often faked. Early on, I got nailed on 2 out of 5, but I learned my lesson and it was painful but well learned. This looks like a very nice one and I wish you luck finding an insignia. Be careful that you use a reputable source with a period guarantee.

I am a collector contributing what I have learned. Why would you take that "attitude"? Are you the seller?
