I see the 'Ordnance bomb', but the date looks like 48 !
US Navy would have 'BU NORD' or something.........
The stamping with the model # should be on the receiver,
( just behind the upper handguard where the bullets go into the chamber,
beside the finger groove on the slide.........! )
( MP44 - VERY NICE ! ! )

hi steve,i will try to get a better picture but its a 43 for sure and no switch .
Ha ! - The switch is the 'SAFETY'............!
I have an M2 Carbine with the bayonet mount and newer sight, but it has been
modified - the selector has been removed and the receiver and barrel have
been welded shut in a manner that destroys the gun as a weapon, but
makes it legal to own for display and re-enacting without
needing a license,
I replaced the 'banana clip' with a WWII type magazine...........
Regards,
Steve.
nice steve,i just looked and its a m1 postalmeater 43 ..

wow nice stuff, love the carbine, mine is a 1943 underwood, but it is in battle condition, and 2 days ago I was shooting it & on my second clip it broke., so when I get the money, it's off to a real great gunsmith I know, I found the part that broke off , it's the piece that you can lock the slide back, where the little pin goes in the hole, potmetal, REALLY? that *****, but am going to let him check everything out, just thank god I still have my 44 k98 mauser & my ak-47 thanks for showing your stuff, really nice stuff.
Steve, man what a shame yours is not able to be shot, that *****, it is a sweet looking rifle, do you prefer the flip safety? I do thats what is on mine also, just sick that it broke. I almost had that tree cut in half.
