I chose an diff thread for this, but dont know what going on with this site. My new thread for the 2nd blade disappeared.
I have been following this thread and also have been monitoring the forum..I did not see a new thread posted. You have 3 threads in your history.
You may have been timed out by the forum login system and probably lost all content of your thread you posted after being timed out..this is all that I can think that possibly happened. Please post it again .

The first issue is whether it is damascus steel or etched steel. See my comment on #7. I presume you by now know the difference. The damascus process is more involved and therefore expensive. you tell the difference by examination and observation of the blade, an experienced eye can tell, if the photos are adequate. Close ups are needed also oblique angles as we are looking for evidence the steel is layered, not just acid etched on top of conventional forged steel. most of your photos are barely adequate to make a judgement. Have a look on the Heer dagger forum and posts by Gerrit to see ideal photo quality.
Second issue you raise, is it a fake if it's etched? Not necessarily, I differ to others on this but I believe some manufacturers during the Third Reich did offer a "etched Damascus" finish for the budget minded customer. Not all imitation etched damascus is from India.
